I made them for brinner on Wednesday night and thought they were okay. I suck at making pancakes, so they weren’t very pretty! Still don’t get the whole “lacy panty” thing– they just taste like graham cracker pancakes to me (not that this is a bad thing in any way!). Also, I’m not huge on boozy stuff, so I cut the whiskey in half and subbed vanilla extract for the rest. You could still taste the whiskey, but it wasn’t overpowering. Why am I writing all this here? Because due to Valentine’s baking/blogging and being away this weekend, I wasn’t able to write a blog post for this one! I look forward to reading everyone else’s though! :)
I was suprised at how much the whiskey in the sauce didn’t bother me…since I pretty much can’t stand it. I did add extra vanilla though, because that’s how I roll…always. ;)
Sadly, I found these very boring. I loved the sauce, but didn’t deem the pancakes (or ‘panty cakes’) too worthy of the time to write a blog. I started one, because I’m making Sour Cream Ice Cream to pour that whiskey sauce over, and I wanted to write about the alternate use – but am not sure I will have the ice cream done and photo-ready by the deadline tomorrow. This may be the first one I have to skip. These just were, honestly, nothing impressive to me.
Baked Sunday Morning admins – I’m working on somewhat of a blog for this, but missed the deadline. Can I post it later and can you include me in the round-up then?
I had all intentions of making these, but it just didn’t happen. Instead, I made the Speculaas cookies , since I joined the group after you all made them, and I’ve been dying o try. So this week, I’m the “rogue” baker! http://bakedsundaymornings.com/2012/01/20/in-the-oven-speculaas/
I went rogue too… I baked the Sweet and Salty brownies from 2010 that I hadn’t made yet. (And the white out cake and the peanut butter spread from the double chocolate loaf…)
Too busy at the restaurant this week to pull these off (no pun intended… Lol), but I’m looking forward to checking out everyone’s blogs tomorrow when I finally get a day off! -Sarah
Everyone Lacy Panty Cakes look wonderful! I had to work this weekend so I had to once again sit this one out. I am definitely going to try these though. They look really good!
I’m late with posting this… but I went ‘semi-rogue’ this week myself, not being too thrilled with the Panty Cakes (see my remarks above). I loved the whiskey sauce, however, and re-purposed it as a topping for delectable Sour Cream Ice Cream (recipe courtesy of the great Alice Medrich). I look at it as combining my baking mentors all into one sweet result. :-) Enjoy… and make the ice cream!

I agree with the sauce for ice cream, I wrote that in my blog post! Sour Cream ice cream is one of my faves. :)

I made these and thought they were great, but I am terrible at making pancakes, so they came out too unphotogenic to post. :(
